2020 Meals on Wheels Texas Annual Conference & Expo
The MOWT Board has made the difficult decision to cancel the 2020 Meals on Wheels Texas Annual Conference and Expo which was to take place from Sunday, April 5 through Tuesday, April 7 at the Omni La Mansión del Rio in San Antonio. The board has been in discussions about this possibility for weeks and the recent CDC guidance about cancelling or postponing events over 50 people for the next 8 weeks has made this decision clear. Although it is disappointing, we must place the health and well-being of our attendees, their clients, sponsors, and speakers first. Of course, we don’t want to become a carrier of the infection to our Meals on Wheels clients. We are still in discussions about the potential for rescheduling the event and we will let everyone know soon when and if we decide to do so.
To our attendees, thank you for being willing to gather for learning and networking. We value our time together every year.
To our sponsors and exhibitors, we thank you for your support!
To our speakers and panel members, we thank you for working so hard on your presentations and apologize for having to cancel this event. We sincerely hope that you will continue to support Meals on Wheels Texas through your time and talents in the future.
Lastly, to the conference committee in San Antonio, we offer our sincerest thanks for your hard work and dedication to the annual conference. Thanks go out to Vinsen Faris, Forrest Myane, and Jose Lerma. We thank you all from the bottom of our hearts and we will remember the Alamo!
Over the next couple of weeks, the board will be discussing the potential for rescheduling and the process and timeline for attendee and sponsor refunds. We will let you know as soon as we have information. In addition, please do not forget to cancel your reservation directly with the Omni La Mansión del Rio. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to the folks at Woollard Nichols and Associates. They can be reached by phone at (512) 547-7141 or by email at [email protected].
Finally, we imagine that the next couple of months will be a challenging time for all our programs. Please know that we will do our best to support you in whatever way possible. Please check our website for new COVID-19 data and information along with shared materials from other members.
Thank you for the work that you do, especially in a time like this.
Yours in Service,
Barbara Lundgren Debbie King
