Our three-year strategy unites partners across Texas to build a stronger, more equitable nutrition network that combats hunger, isolation, and health disparities.

Each committee is tasked with overseeing one strategic initiative from the plan.

*New* Service Delivery Committee

Strategic Initiative: Uplift Locally

Strengthen and modernize local meal programs by sharing best practices, improving service delivery, and supporting volunteers so every community can better serve older Texans

Advocacy Committee

2025 - 2026 Chair: Chris Culak, Visiting Nurse Association, culakc@vnatexas.org

The newly established Advocacy Committee will direct advocacy activities for Meals on Wheels Texas, including identifying yearly advocacy goals, preparing for and engaging in legislative sessions, stewarding relationships with local, city, state, leaders, communicating with HHSC and TDA, and working with the lobbyists to advance the missions of Meals on Wheels programs in Texas.
 

Strategic Initiative: Influence Legislation

Advocate for fair funding, policy improvements, and consistent statewide standards that protect and strengthen local senior meal programs

Conference Committee

2025 - 2026 Chair: Jennifer Flynn, Meals on Wheels Tarrant County, jflynn@mealsonwheels.org

The Conference Committee oversees and supports many aspects of conference planning, including developing learning tracks, speaker and workshop lists, imagining special events, and providing stewardship for sponsors and vendors.

Strategic Initiative: Engage Members

Invest in professional development, peer networks, and regional collaboration to strengthen member organizations and the collective impact of the network

Membership Committee

2025 - 2026 Chair: Brenda Thompson, Dietert Center, brendathompson@dietertcenter.org

The Membership Committee is responsible for promoting the Association, membership recruitment and membership retention. The Committee ensures that member listings are accurate and identifies ways for the Association to have value for each participating organization.

Strategic Initiative: Dialogue Effectively

Strengthen communication across the network to ensure members receive timely information, unified messaging, and consistent visibility

Development Committee

2025 - 2026 Chair: Forrest Myane, Meals on Wheels San Antonio, forrestm@mowsatx.org

The Development Committee identifies strategies for Meals on Wheels Texas to maintain and build sustainability as the organization and helps grows the overall development plan, including sponsorship recruitment for the annual training conference and special projects.

Build long-term financial sustainability through fundraising, partnerships, and grants that benefit both the statewide network and local providers
